  13.           Registration
  14.  
  15.           BOOT.SYS is  not free! You  may try it  out at  no charge for  an
  16.           initial trial period to  determine if it fits your needs.  If you
  17.           want to continue to  use BOOT.SYS after the initial  trial period
  18.           you must register. This method of software  distribution is known
  19.           as Shareware.
  20.  
  21.           The registration fee  for a single copy  of BOOT.SYS is  SFR 70.-
  22.           (exchange rate US$ to Swiss Francs is about $0.76  = SFR 1.- (Oc-
  23.           tober 1990)). Payment of this fee entitles you to:
  24.  
  25.             * A disk with the current version of BOOT.SYS
  26.  
  27.             * A printed and bound manual
  28.  
  29.             * A special utility program that lets you transfer your license
  30.               to any  later shareware  versions  of BOOT.SYS  that you  may
  31.               obtain from any shareware source (getting an upgrade from the
  32.               author requires new registration).
  33.  
  34.             * Free support (by electronic mail or by mail) for the first 90
  35.               days after  payment,  consisting of  answering questions  and
  36.               fixing any  reproducible program  error(s) that  interfere(s)
  37.               with the  intended use  of the  program as  outlined in  this
  38.               documentation. The  author  may choose  not  to fix  problems
  39.               related to a  special hardware and/or  software configuration
  40.               and will then arrange  for a refund of the  registration fee,
  41.               if the  problem is reported  within 90  days of payment.  The
  42.               author makes no  other warranties, expressed or  implied, and
  43.               this warranty is expressly limited to the cost  of the regis-
  44.               tration fee.

  46.             * BOOT.SYS is publicly supported on CompuServe in  the DOS Uti-
  47.               lities section of the IBMSYS forum. A  free CompuServe Intro-
  48.               Pak, which includes  a $15.00 usage  credit, is available  to
  49.               registered  BOOT.SYS  users  who  do  not  yet  subscribe  to
  50.               CompuServe. CompuServe  will open  the door for  a whole  new
  51.               world of information, services, and  interesting people. Com-
  52.               puServe is also  the best place  to obtain technical  support
  53.               for products from Hans Salvisberg (and  many other developers
  54.               and vendors).  The CompuServe  IntroPak (a  $39.95 value)  is
  55.               provided to registered  BOOT.SYS users compliments  of Compu-
  56.               Serve, Inc., and Hans Salvisberg. This offer  is dependent on
  57.               its continued availability from CompuServe, Inc.
  58.               For your information: Current CompuServe rates are $12.50 per
  59.               connect hour plus communications surcharges (e.g., $0.30/hour
  60.               in the U.S.A., $9.50/hour in Switzerland and the United King-
  61.               dom, varying rates in other countries).

  63.           BOOT.SYS must  be registered before  it is  used in a  commercial
  64.           (business, corporate, government, educational, or  other institu-
  65.           tional) environment.

  67.           The following per-unit  prices apply for  registration of one  or
  68.           more copies of BOOT.SYS on the same order form:

  80.           THESE PRICES INCLUDE ONE  MASTER DISKETTE AND ONE  PRINTED MANUAL
  81.           PER  ORDER.  The licensee  is  responsible  for  duplicating  the
  82.           diskette and documentation as  needed, and for ensuring  that the
  83.           registered number of installed copies is not exceeded. Additional
  84.           manuals are  available for  a  nominal fee.  Under this  schedule
  85.           SUPPORT  IS PROVIDED  TO  ONE  DESIGNATED REPRESENTATIVE  OF  THE
  86.           LICENSEE ONLY.

  88.           You have three choices for registering:
  89.  
  90.             - With the author in  Switzerland: All payment must be  done in
  91.               Swiss Francs. The easiest  way to do this is by  credit card.
  92.               You authorize us  to charge your card  for the amount  due in
  93.               SFR and the credit card company will automatically convert to
  94.               your currency  using  the current  exchange  rate. We  cannot
  95.               guarantee a  fixed exchange rate  or a  certain date for  the
  96.               conversion to  take place,  but based on  our experience  the
  97.               exchange rates do not vary quickly.
  98.               Alternatively you may send  us a postal money order  in Swiss
  99.               Francs (your local post office does the currency conversion).
  100.  
  101.             - With  Public  software  Library  in   the  U.S.A.  (single-PC
  102.               licenses only!):  PsL  is authorized  to sell  pre-registered
  103.               single-PC versions  of BOOT.SYS at  $39 +  $4 s&h. They  take
  104.               credit card  orders on  a toll-free phone  number or  written
  105.               orders accompanied by a check or credit card information.
  106.  
  107.             - For site licenses:  Other modes of payment  including payment
  108.               in US$ or other  currency can be negotiated -  please contact
  109.               the author.
